JERUSALEM — The United States has turned down Israeli requests for military hardware to help it prepare for a possible attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, a frontpage report in Israel's Haaretz newspaper said on Wednesday.
The unsourced report said the Americans had warned Israel against carrying out any such attack and had refused to supply offensive military hardware. Instead they had offered to improve the Jewish state's defenses against surface-to-surface missiles.
The Haaretz report, by one of its senior columnists, did not specify what weapons systems Israel had requested. It said Washington had told Israel its aircraft would be denied permission to use Iraqi airspace to reach Iran.
Barak said Iran was a "threat to the whole world order, and there are many actions to be made in the realm of intelligence and preventive measures".
He said the United States "does not see an action against Iran as the right thing to do at the moment", but shared Israel's view that "no option should be removed from the table".
The United States said last week that Iran, by ignoring demands that it halt sensitive nuclear activities, had left the U.N. Security Council no choice but to increase sanctions.
Another Israeli official familiar with the issue, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: "The American military has made clear it doesn't want Israeli military action at this time".
You have to understand what the simple minded idiots ruining running this country are trying to do. First, they very simple mindedly think that all they have to do is build a fence made up of an anti-missile system and hide behind it to keep from being nuked by Iran. That is why they are building the missile systems in Eastern Europe and infuriating Russia. They also think they can hide Israel behind a smaller fence. The fools think that, if they hide behind this fence, the nuke threat from Iran will just quietly go away. Wrong, won't happen.
Second, they are backing off to Iran and just talking sanctions knowing that sanctions have never deterred even one bad guy from doing evil. History teaches that the only way to stop a bad guy is to knock him on his butt good and hard. Being nice to bad guys only encourages them.
Third, they have sold Israel out for lower prices for oil and got the lower prices. The fools don't realize that once the Muslims have finished screwing Israel, the Muslims will be able to turn ALL of their attention towards screwing the rest of the world.....you know, you.
Fourth, since the US media cut Bush's testicles off and he handed the presidency over to President Rice, the US has only been militarily bluffing and Iran has called the bluff and won. We are no longer respected as a super power. Now even Russia has called the bluff knowing that, if Bush won't attack Iran, he definitely won't attack Russia so Putin went into Georgia, a US ally, and is tearing it apart. Also, the Druze, a formerly strong US ally, in Lebanon have just been forced to sign on with Hizbollah because President Rice just talked a good fight and didn't do any fighting to protect the Druze. Yep, since President Rice took over the Oval Office, if you are a US ally, you are going to get screwed.
The US Pentagon stupidly thinks that by denying Israel the conventional weapons, flight through Iraqi air space, and giving Israel a system that will stop some surface-to-surface missiles, the Israeli's will just quietly wait to die by intense heat. What the fools are really doing is forcing Israel's hand and this has huge implications. First, without the right conventional hardware, Israel will be forced to use nukes meaning Israel will HAVE to attack Iran with nukes only. Second, not permitting Israel to use Iraqi air space forces Israel to use missiles that will fly over Iraqi air space....you know, the kind that use nukes.
Due to the incredible brilliance and arrogance of our military leaders and the State Department, Israel no longer has a choice, they must attack Iran with nukes only. Isn't it absolutely amazing just how far you can rise in the government without a functioning brain? All the way to the top.
